Paper tags
The folks over at Craftzine are having Crafty Tag Contest. I decided to submit my flower tags that I made for our wedding. (We ended up using them on the favour bags and guest room bags.) Submit away – the contest ends on August 13!

Paper skirt

One of this weekend’s projects. Something I was lacking at the last craft show was good signage and something quirky to ensure my booth was memorable. On Saturday, I was lucky to find this little metal dressform at an antique shop (I know, it’s only antique looking.. that’s ok).
Since my business name is Paper Skirt, I thought I should make a little paper skirt for the mannequin. After a couple of test patterns, I broke out the scissors and staples and dressed my mannequin. I’m pretty pleased with the results… and I kind of wish I could sew myself a skirt to match.

“Something blue”

Another wedding project… done! I love this paper from Whimsy Press. Love. To complete the look, I clipped out photos of blue flowers from a magazine, glued them on to heavy cardstock and used my tag punch to finish it off.

Another wedding project… complete!

I thought it would be fun to have an album with some our our childhood photos at the wedding. So, for the last few months, we’ve collected photos. I spent last weekend scanning, cropping and colour correcting the images before taking them to be printed. It was satisfying to see it all come together.
I used one of my accordion albums – covered with opal brocade paper and a swishy green ribbon. Handmade. With much love.

Place cards? Done!

One more project checked off the to-do list. Place cards are finished! Everything is matchy matchy with the established lupin theme. Continuity is my friend.
Tomorrow night’s project? Photo albums. I think I keep the Paper Source in business just with my orders of Glue “Zots”.

So much news, so few photos
There has been so much going on over the last two weeks – and I’m bursting at the seams to upload photos and spill the beans. There was bookmaking and more bookmaking and secret projects and oh-my the photo editing. Photoshop and I have been spending many quality hours together.
I just needed to post *something* to say hi! I’m still around and making crafty messes here in the home studio. Since most of these projects are wedding related, I need to keep them tucked away for a little bit. Just a little bit.
Exciting!

No rest until Sunday!

The last two weeks have been busy – heck, the last two days have been busy! I realized on a flight back to Ottawa on Sunday that I *needed* a new shelf/display for the Ladyfest Craft Sale on Saturday (Jack Purcell Centre! 10am-5pm!) – so I sketched out what I needed and rough measurements.
With the help of WoodChip for the workshop tools and cutting, I had a new custom “grandma meets Stockholm” style of display after several hours.
Now to finish up some books!

Down to business… cards that is

After reading CaiLun’s tutorial for this business card holder, I knew that I had to try making one. Finally, a good use for all my little bookboard scraps!
I made it to suit my own needs and tastes – grape bookcloth with a little ivory ribbon detail. The inside features that famous quote from Ugly Betty, “You are an attractive, intelligent and confident business woman.”

Mini accordion albums

Was it ever hard to stay indoors to work this weekend. Because of other committments, I need to get everything done for the Ladyfest Craft Sale this week!
I’m starting to really enjoy the process of making these tiny accordion books. I like that they’re a little more “permanent” than greeting cards. These little books could become keepsakes. When I start thinking about all of the different things you could record on their pages, it makes me really happy. Like these little baby books – how sweet would it be to mark down all of those “small details”?

Or wouldn’t it be nice to have someone write you little love notes all wrapped up in pretty white and red paper? Oooh!
