Vegetables knocking at my door
Robyn, you are the best for finding this link to Ottawa Organics and Natural Foods! There’s a new organic produce (plus bread, dairy, grains & treats!) delivery and their wharehouse is right here in Centretown. Not only am I happy about the veggie delivery, but baguette delivery = awesome.
No more bent baguettes in my bike basket.

Things are blossoming in Australia
Girl loves design. Girl loves environment. Girl leaves job. Girl starts her own design business! That’s how Blossom Creations came to be.
Erin creates stationery, housewares, accessories and does custom work as well. From screenprinting these cute totes to designing greeting cards, it certainly seems that she’s totally prepared to go full steam ahead with her dream.
Check out her shop – she ships worldwide, so it’s not a problem if you’re not in sunny Australia. And she has a new blog to follow along.
Go Erin!

Cherry bowl… now with cherries

We got this bowl as a gift about a year ago and since then it’s been used for everything but washing cherries. When I saw cherries on sale yesterday, I couldn’t resist. Even the little gnome is curious.

Good reading – Graphic Define Magazine
After catching up on some blogs, I found this link to Graphic Define Magazine on Neil’s blog. Looks like there’s lots of good reading to do: Networking is not Schmoozing for example.
The magazine is about “encouraging professionals in the graphic, web, and interactive industries to share their tips and experiences that have helped them in their business endeavours.” You can even contribute to the magazine.

Centretown Art Tour

I love this idea and I can’t believe I didn’t know about it earlier. The first ever Centretown Art Tour (Catwalk!) is happening on Sunday, July 8. There’s a preview show as well at Shanghai restaurant from June 28 to July 4. Mmmm General Tao’s tofu + art.
You can find a list of the artists on their website and maps are available at all public libraries, Shanghai, Bridgehead (at Gilmour), Herb and Spice, Loomis and Wallacks.

Sweet chili chicken balls and noodles

The latest Delicious magazine had a recipe for this asian-style noodle dish. It looked amazing. The original recipe called for pork, but I substituted chicken. The meat is rolled with ginger, garlic, cilantro and sweet chili sauce and served on a bed of vermicelli noodles. Finally it’s dressed with mint, red onion, cucumbers and another dash of sweet chili sauce.
Holy delicious.
Next up this weekend? A couple of recipes to try from Super Natural Cooking.

Weekend in Centretown

It’s been a long, but good week. I got to wear my Banana Republic suit to a marketing conference and I found out that the area I live in has been coined “Grads and Pads” by Environics (a market research company). One of the traits of this segment? Shopping at Banana Republic. Nail.on.head.
I have my last wedding dress appointment today to get the bustle.. bustled. I keep worrying that I’m not going to like the dress since I ordered it nearly 10 months ago. Styles change so much in that time!
On a sad note, I’m afraid that I’m going to have to break up with the Paper Source. Since they switched their shipping method to FedEx, the brokerage fees have gone sky high. On my last order – the taxes, brokerage and “disbursement” fees added 50% to the total cost of the package. $71 dollars on a $138 package. I nearly cried.

Market this
This week, I attended Marcom (Canada’s public sector and non-profit marketing symposium). The keynote was given by Mitch Joel from Montreal’s Twist Image agency.
His talk about the use of blogs, Flickr and yes, even Facebook (which I’ve finally caved in and joined) was inspiring to say the least. Plus, there were so many good sessions: podcasting, branding, media relations.. exciting. It finally felt like confirmation about my career path.

Something blue – rhinestones!

It’s been hard to think of that “something blue” item for the wedding. I’m not sure if I saw this idea over at Weddingbee or in a magazine, but stick-on scrapbooking crystals were always in the back of my mind. I could easily stick our initials on to the bottom of my high heels.. and voila! I picked these up at our local Loomis art store, but I’m sure you could find them wherever scrapbooking materials are sold.
